Face to Face Pre-registration Optometrist Training Courses
“Overall the (group mock) course was well run and organised, and definitely worth the price, I don’t think I would have passed without it. I initially booked it because I had no previous experience with an OSCE practical exam since university and since this is run by an Assessor it seemed like the best option. It is easily accessible by train, and the environment was good, comfortable enough to ask any questions. This was the only course I went on and I felt much more prepared afterwards. Loved the variety of stations and more importantly the breakdown of how to go about each station and the feedback at the end (of each station). Can’t recommend this course enough!” – AS, BSc (Hons) Optometry, Pre-registration Optometrist, Coalville, East Midlands (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“It was a big challenge starting off my pre reg year, I was worried I wouldn’t cope as I’ve got a family with two small kids. I really needed to finish within the allotted time and I did. I attended Optuitions courses at every stage of the pre reg from Stage 1, Stage 2 and the OSCEs. At first I thought hmmm quite pricey but my first encounter showed me how much of a great teacher Nav is. His teaching skills are second to none. The OSCE videos are a must for any pre reg and combined with the Stage 2 Videos are simply amazing. To summarise he is the pre reg Navigator! I wouldn’t have done it without Nav!” – YU, Other Optometry, Pre-registration Optometrist, Cumbria (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Thank you so much for your help Nav. You have explained everything really well and pointed out how to improve my OSCE communication skills – I really appreciated your help (1-to-1 blended learning OSCE course). I will recommend you to my pre-reg optom students!” – IL, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Plymouth (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Nav was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Nav was very generous with time, giving a full day of useful (mock OSCE) preparation. A wide variety of topics were covered in great detail. Feedback was thorough, detailed and constructive. It was extremely helpful in identifying weaker areas and bad habits. The videos were very useful in developing skills for the appropriate stations. I would thoroughly recommend the (1-to-1 blended learning OSCE) course to anyone sitting their OSCE.” – MF, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Swansea (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“(The 1-to-2 blended learning OSCE course offered) invaluable experience. Being able to have a go at several OSCE mocks and getting detailed feedback, understanding how you pass and fail. Nav is also very passionate about his work, he will go to lengths to make sure every question is answered. The man is a great actor when role playing some of the scenarios!” – JN, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Plymouth (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I passed my OSCE first time thanks to Optuitions. This was my only mock OSCE course in person, I had two mock OSCE courses online, and this one was by far the most insightful. I learnt how to face any given scenario and how to well in the practical stations too. Thank you so much!” – MS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Worcester (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“After failing my first attempt at the OSCE, I needed help understanding where I went wrong. I highly recommend both the group mock osce and the online one-to-one osce which helped me pass on my second attempt! Nav was great in providing tailored feedback as well as generalised feedback which you can use not only for the OSCES but for everyday practice. I just wish I had done this course sooner!! Definitely worth it!! Thank you!” – MB, MOptom (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The Optuitions group mock OSCE was worth every penny in my preparation for thereal exam. I think the OSCE is a strange exam so it’s priceless to understand what to expect & what is expected of us to get good marks. The group size was very small and therefore the experience was very personalised and it didn’t feel embarrassing to ask questions! Nav was incredibly patient and spent time giving us the most detailed feedback/advice. In addition, his lovely office building is right across from the train station and easy to get to. I’d 100% recommend his services to anyone regardless of whether it’s their first attempt or resit, it’ll definitely give you a one up!” – MC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Rochdale (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“(The group mock OSCE) course was amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. It was extremely informative, thorough, all my questions were answered, and I had a real feel for what the OSCEs would be like. This course helped so much, and I do believe it is a part of the reason I passed my OSCEs first time. Highly recommend!!” – AR, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“(The 1-to-1 blended learning OSCE course was a) very useful experience, doesn’t feel rushed and Dr Gupta is happy to answer any questions.” – RH, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Midlands (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The full day (group mock OSCE) course was very informative as it gave a lot of exposure to many different example stations. We went through each station in great depth which I found very helpful. Feedback was very detailed and I believe this helped me identify my weaker areas. I would definitely recommend this course for anyone preparing for the OSCE!” – SK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Bromwich (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Having attended Optuitions online quizzes during lockdown, I decided to attend the 1-1 mock OSCE course with Navneet. This course does not disappoint one bit, and is worth every penny. The circuit of stations and the full breakdown of each station afterwards and how to structure each answer was done in such a thorough manner, I got full marks on some stations which were identical on the day of my actual OSCE. I would not have passed if I didn’t get to meet Navneet and do this course, and thank you for such an amazing experience and a fun day out doing this course.” – MM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Leeds (2021) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I contacted Optuitions because I had failed my OSCE a few times before this and I just didn’t know where I was going wrong. The (group mock OSCE) course itself was really great! There weren’t too many people so I felt like everyone got a chance to speak. Being able to practice and do some practical skills was really good, as it made me realise that I actually didn’t know how to carry out some techniques appropriately to gain more marks! Dr Gupta literally broke every type of station down to emphasise what the examiners were actually looking for. I honestly can’t thank you enough, this was my last attempt at the OSCE and I couldn’t afford to fail it! I would recommend this course to everyone who’s going to sit their OSCE. I was told by every pre-reg before me that I would find OSCE so easy since I passed Stage 1 in 3 visits and Stage 2 first time. When it actually came to the OSCEs I wasn’t even sure where to start studying or what to expect. After the Optuitions course I actually understand why I failed certain stations in the past. So it was worth the time and money! The only thing I can say about improving the course is the distance (from Glasgow!)” – SN, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Glasgow (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Courses like these (group mock OSCE course) are required for the OSCEs because they are so unfamiliar; practicing them is the only way to realise what is required from us. I had done another course in March with another provider for a similar price but it only lasted 2 hours and felt very rushed. However the Optuitions course was a full day of stations and also Dr Gupta, the course leader, is so friendly, he answers your questions in a simple easy to understand way, he doesn’t patronize you. Since it’s a long day and people have probably travelled from far, lunch should be included in the price, perhaps it wasn’t this time due to the COVID situation. This course is definitely worth the money and the location was easy to get to by car and park in the side street just outside of the building.” – SK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“After failing my first OSCE sitting I was looking for a course to help me understand how to approach the OSCE. After the good reviews from my friends and colleagues, I was recommended to attend the Optuitions 1-to1 OSCE course. The course was a one day event where we went through the structure of how to tackle each station. The environment was ideal as we were able to mimic the OSCE conditions and Dr Gupta had all the practical equipment set-up. After attending the course I was able to work on my weaknesses and knew where I went wrong. When I re-sat my OSCE I felt more confident because of this course. I would highly recommend this course to all pre-registration students – nothing else will better prepare you!” – KR, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (OSCE) course is well structured and the tutor Dr Gupta is great at explaining the material really well. He gave me motivation to start practicing in my spare time. I attended a bespoke 1-to-1 OSCE course including online videos and the group mock OSCE course. The courses are great with multiple individual feedback received and real OSCE scenarios discussed. I found the courses really helpful especially learning tips for Volk and for practical examination scenarios. We were given opportunities to ask questions and everything was well set up and repeated if we didn’t understand anything. I would highly recommend Optuitions to anyone sitting the OSCEs. Thanks a lot Dr Gupta, you’re amazing!” – MT, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Bridgnorth, Shropshire (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Excellent (group mock OSCE) course, 10/10! I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking to solidify concepts/ask the right questions when solving a case.” – NM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Kent (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Really good (group mock OSCE) course! Gave me a lot of confidence before taking the exam! Thank you for all your help, fortunately I passed the OSCEs first time around and I only failed one station!” – AK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Bristol (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 4/5 Stars
“(The group mock OSCE course) was a really informative course and really helped me to gain an insight into the OSCEs. Dr Gupta was great at explaining everything and the mock stations were great too – it was good to be able to practice on the Volk Manikin. The course definitely was worthwhile and I’m sure it definitely gave me the skills to be able to pass the OSCE first time. I’d definitely recommend it to any pre-reg sitting their OSCE in the future!” – SS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Richmond, Yorkshire (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“(The group mock OSCE course is) well presented and has in depth demonstration of station examples. Highly recommended!” – RS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“(The group mock OSCE course is) very informative and I would definitely recommend it to others! The only down side was the confined space – it would be better to have a larger room, especially for four people.” – AM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Blackpool (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 4/5 Stars
“I would strongly recommend this (group mock OSCE) course! It is well structured, has very good case scenarios and gives a good sense of what the real OSCEs will feel like. You get very honest feedback so I would highly recommend this course to everyone. Without going to a mock OSCE like this course I wouldn’t have passed first time so THANK YOU Optuitions!” – ZH, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Staffordshire (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I attended the group mock OSCE courses – Dr Gupta explains things very simply in a manner easy to understand. You pick up a lot of helpful tips and pointers, so you can face any station with confidence. I just wish I’d done the course before my first attempt!” – RC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Sheffield (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 4/5 Stars
“The Optuitions OSCE course in person and online was phenomenal. I was completely disheartened and almost gave up when I didn’t pass the September OSCEs. I attended the two day intensive course which prepared me so well for the OSCEs and helped me pass. The structure and the content of the course is well laid out. Dr Gupta allows students to have an insight on how it will feel doing the actual stations and sitting on the the other side, observing peers – this is probably the most effective way of understating OSCEs because it is a completely different world when you’re sat watching someone doing stations and observing their mistakes, and then repeating the same mistakes when attempting them yourself! The main thing about the course that helped me was how to construct a plan to get to the answer rather than reading the station and jumping to the answer. This course has already convinced me to arrange further courses with Optuitions to enhance my knowledge. I would highly recommend this course!” – BH, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), BSc (Other), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“There is no course (group mock OSCE course) offered like this by the multiples and it was invaluable in passing the OSCE. Dr Gupta’s approach to address the differences between real life practice and the OSCE is crucial to understanding exactly what you need to consider and change about the way you tackle each type of OSCE station. He helps you develop an approach for each type of station, which can be used irrespective of the data or scenario given to you in the real thing and it really is exactly what the examiners are looking for. Dr Gupta is an extremely good teacher and really helps you understand the subject and approaches better for both OSCE and real practice. He has a lovely friendly manner. Even if you have 52 millions questions for him, for every single station! It was well worth the investment even traveling up from Plymouth. I certainly don’t think passing would have been likely without going and considering (the cost) it’s a quarter of the OSCE resit fees it has to be value for money! I strongly recommend this course for all pre regs struggling or otherwise.” – ZI, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Plymouth (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Helpful stations and very organised layout (in the group mock OSCE course)” – AI, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Walkden, Salford (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I found the (group mock OSCE) course really helpful and Dr Gupta was very approachable to ask whatever questions you like. I appreciated the fact that the courses were ran for a whole day as it felt worth the money paid, as I have been to other courses that run for not even a third of the time for the same price and weren’t helpful at all. I would recommend this course to all students struggling with OSCEs or even those who are going to sit it for the first time as it sets you up to understand your weaker areas to work on. Location wise I wish it was closer as I had to travel a fair amount but other than I feel like I learned a lot!” – HA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Leeds (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I enjoyed the (group mock OSCE) course. I had the opportunity to do many OSCE stations, examples and learned a lot for doing the course. Dr Gupta is very experienced and his teaching is superb. I highly recommend the course to all the future pre-regs!” – WH, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Plymouth (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I failed the OSCEs in September 2019, so felt I needed to get some practice to get me ready for the OSCEs in January 2020. The (group mock OSCE) course helped me understand and develop exam technique that I was lacking previously, which also helps gain confidence if put in the same position in the real OSCE. You feel more comfortable in tackling the station as you have an idea of what the examiner expects to a certain degree. The courses also helps with the little things that will help gain marks in an OSCE that you don’t even think of – especially if you don’t attend any courses. I feel covering the tough practical stations like how to approach Amsler, colour vision tests, Mallett unit at near, and confrontation visual fields helps massively – something you don’t use everyday. It also helped to know the style of writing an examiner wants when writing referral letters. I thought the office was a little small, but with a group of only 4 people it was just about manageable. Lunch was a little bit of a rush – but the course is an intense crash course. And we got to talk about West Brom flying high at the time at the top of the Championship, which was great!” UM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Blackburn (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★4/5 Stars
“Amazing (group mock OSCE) course, which really helped me prepare and learn how to deal with OSCE scenarios. I would definitely recommend it to my friends! Thank you Dr Gupta!” – TZ, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Shirley, Birmingham (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (1-to-2 blended learning OSCE) course had excellent content, and great balance of practical and non-practical mock stations. Watching someone else do the stations was also very helpful. Very in depth and videos were a great way to provide a summary into each type of station and prepares you well for the course. Only downside I found the room was a little crowded and that is all! Thank you Optuitions!” – KB, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Northampton (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 4/5 Stars
“I highly recommend this (group mock OSCE) course to anyone sitting the OSCEs. It massively boosted my confidence going into the exam. It felt more personal than other courses I attended. Every single question I had was answered to the point we even finished a bit later to accommodate for the extra discussions. The only disappointing thing was I didn’t book 2 days!” – ZY, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Tamworth, Staffordshire (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (1-to-2 blended learning) OSCE course was very useful – I would definitely recommend the course to all pre-reg students. Thank you for helping me pass my exam!” – MJ, MOptom (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2020) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“After having completed a mock OSCE circuit as part of a training course provided by the company I was working for, it became apparent to me that my technique itself for approaching the non-practical stations needed more work. The Optuitions online OSCE course was perfect for me as it allowed me to practice my skills from the comfort of my own space and re-watch the videos provided as part of the course, multiple times. The online course itself is very well laid out covering the four major aspects of the OSCE stations. What I found the most useful was being shown examples of both poorly done and well conducted approaches to the stations and the guidance given, which could be incorporated into any scenario. As a result of this course, I was able to pass my OSCEs first time round and would therefore definitely recommend the course to those who wishes to improve their exam technique.” – HH, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Coventry (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I attended the (group mock OSCE) course to have a better idea of what OSCEs and example stations will be like and how to tackle them. The location was very good as it was right next to a train station so easy to find. What was good about the course was that it was very detailed, a small group so more one to one feedback, we had a range of OSCE stations with feedback after every station and good examples and scenarios. I would definitely recommend this course to others who are sitting their OSCE and want to see what the OSCEs will be like with detailed feedback on your performance. It was definitely a good investment in time and money and a lot was learnt in that one session. Attending this course helped me pass my OSCE first time!” – TA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“It was certainly a very intense day filled with mock stations which represented the real OCSE very well! Not only was this course very rewarding with the practice you can get, such as Volk on a dummy eye, which you can’t practice or really revise for at home, but it gave you a good idea of what particular topics and areas you need to revise more on! Overall, I would highly recommend this course as it definitely prepared me in terms of what to expect and also taught me lots of tips and tricks for the actual OCSE day!” – SL, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Kenilworth, Warwickshire (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (group mock OSCE) course was indescribably incredible. Dr Gupta really broke down the OSCEs in such a simple, lucid manner that revision became so much more organised, efficient and generally more enjoyable. The feedback was really descriptive, simple and easy to follow. Not only do I feel that the course helped prepare me for the OSCEs, but as an optometrist in general too. Can’t recommend it highly enough!” – SZ, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I decided to do the group mock OSCE course as I wanted to have a proper insight into what the OSCE would be like. After previously doing a Stage 2 course with Optuitions, I knew that it would be worth it. It was very useful having the opportunity to try out many stations first hand in exam conditions and getting constructive feedback at the end. We were given many tips and I was never made to feel bad for not knowing any answers. Dr Gupta was always happy to help and give relevant support and advice. I was able to go to my OSCE feeling confident and I managed to pass first time thanks to this course!” – SK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Oakham, East Midlands (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I was not confident I would pass the OSCEs at all and I had heard that a mock OSCE course would be essential to do before the real thing. I enjoyed the fact (the group mock OSCE course) was a small group so it almost felt like private tutoring. The quality was very good, Dr Gupta is concise and full of great tips. I learnt how to structure answers and perform certain practicals properly. The location was far for me but it was still worth it. I felt more confident after the tutorial, even though I pretty much failed all the mocks(!) because I had learnt so much in terms of how to structure answers and it helped me focus my revision. I definitely would recommend this course – all of my friends that took the course benefited a lot from it and passed their OSCEs first time!” – EO, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), BSc (Hons) (Other), Pre-registration Optometrist, Surbiton, London (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I’m really glad I took this (group mock OSCE) course, it helped me to prepare enormously. I felt confident in the exam, all thanks to this course, as I then practiced in a similar format afterwards. Thank you so much!” – SH, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), BSc (Hons) (Other), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (group mock OSCE) course really set me up in my prep towards osces. Would recommend to all future pre reg students!” – IB, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, York (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Going to this (group mock) OCSE course was the best decision I’ve made! It is very hard to prepare for OCSEs as it is not a written exam and so this course prepared me very well in terms of communication skills, how to go about in tackling an OCSE station & many more. I passed my July OCSEs 1st time thanks to Dr Gupta!” – YM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Plymouth (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Having failed my Stage 2 at the first attempt, I didn’t want to take any chances with my OSCEs. I applied to do many courses, then a colleague recommend Optuitions. I knew to pass first time I would have to practice as much as possible. The course was fantastic! It was so much more than what I was expecting. The quality of the information and tutoring I received were brilliant, I learnt so much more than I did on other courses I attended. Dr Gupta was brilliant, funny and engaging, making me want to learn and put 100% into the course. The location I didn’t mind too much, as the smaller office environment allowed me to stay more focused and closer to my group in terms of relating ideas back and forth. My case history was something else after I attended the OSCE course!! It made me question every case history I’d taken before then! The approach and understanding of case history taught by Dr Gupta has literally changed the game for me, I pretty much consider it one of the reasons why I passed my OSCE first time! I saw each OSCE station in a different way once I attended the course, I knew exactly what mindset I had to approach and tackle the station, and that’s thanks to the many stations we went through on my training day. I would say don’t even think twice about it, book this course ASAP! In my experience, you don’t need to bother with any other courses, Optuitions is the only course you’ll need. It’s literally the creme de la creme of courses – I went on quite a few so I would know!!” – AS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Leeds (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I decided to attend the group OSCE course as I did not feel best prepared for my OSCES that I was due to sit for the first time. The group OSCE course gave a fantastic and detailed insight into how exactly to tackle the different type of stations you could be presented with. Being able to observe how your colleagues would approach each station and getting detailed and thorough feedback on each of the 26 stations allowed me to best prepare my revision. At the end of the course, I had a more detailed insight into what examiners would be looking for in each station. I passed my OSCE first time around! This is a course I would definitely recommend to those considering.” – FA, MOptom (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Nottingham (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I sought extra support as an OSCE is different to any other type of exam I have completed before and I wanted to ensure I was well prepared – I was unsure o what and how to revise. The practice I work in can become extremely busy and support regarding preparation for the OSCE exam was minimal. I always want to do well and to the best of my ability, especially as I get very nervous for exams, so I thought attending a course would be best for me. Optuitions is very easy to get to by train. Dr Gupta was great, very understanding of everyone and covered everything we needed to know as well as questions we had! The course involved personal and group feedback and I was also able to learn from peers. I believe that one of the main reasons I passed my OSCE (with more than 1000 marks above the pass criteria) was because I attended Dr Gupta’s course. The 26 stations he went through with us were very realistic and were approached with great depth. I learnt about basic history taking especially in relation to getting the answer we need to pass the OSCE, and I now also apply this in my real practice. The practical stations we went through also came up in my actual OSCE! I was so grateful as I felt confident going into the stations. I would recommend for other pre-regs to attend this group mock OSCE course. I gained so much from it and gave me a really good foundation for my revision. The course was definitely a good investment of time and money. The feeling of passing your OSCE is nothing compared to a small fee where you get to better your own knowledge, feel more confident about your exam and gain support. To better the course I would suggest printing the scenarios out into a little booklet on which we can write our own notes. I would just like to say “thank you” to Dr Gupta for taking the time to put together a well thought out course covering many aspects and for understanding and answering all of our concerns, being understanding towards our individual situations and being constructive about our performance in a way that made us want to learn.” – KM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Rugby, Warwickshire (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (group mock OSCE) course is a brilliant course which goes in to a lot of detail about the OSCEs. It prepares you very well for the structure of the exam, including refining your practical skills and what type of questions to ask a patient in history and symptoms. I would definitely recommend it!” – IG, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Wolverhampton (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (group mock OSCE) course was a great course! Dr Gupta was so helpful and genuinely a great teacher; I would definitely recommend this course! Thanks for your help Optuitions!” – FB, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Manchester (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (group mock) course was absolutely amazing, and I’ve been to quite a few before this one. And I have to say this one with Optuitions is heads and shoulders above the rest. The things that I’ve learnt here definitely helped me pass. I definitely recommend this course, and this one is probably all you need to pass! You go through every kind of station and are given a formula to answer each type; I passed thanks to this with a score of over 4300!” – SB, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I attended the group mock OSCE course after failing my first OSCE attempt. The system used by Optuitions to ensure we practiced the maximum amount of stations we could was very helpful. Dr Gupta’s advice was invaluable and was really what helped me understand the kind of answers Examiners look for, which allowed me to pass with 13/14 stations! Highly recommended and will be sending more trainees your way!” – TJ, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I attended the group mock OSCE course and I am happy to say I passed at my first attempt. The revision was really helpful.” – MM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Wetherby, near Leeds (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The group mock OSCE course helped me to get ready for the actual OSCEs. The course helped me to say things in a structured way for communication stations in particular.” – MJ, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Rhyl, Wales (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Great (group mock OSCE) course! Structured well and really prepared me for the OSCEs. Definitely recommend it to all the pre-regs!” – JS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Kidderminster, Worcestershire (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The group mock OSCE course was as a long day but was worth it! We managed to get through many stations. It would be useful to have notes to take home especially notes to explain eye conditions.” – SL, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Glasgow (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars Response from Optuitions: Thank you very much for the valuable feedback. We have now made an online course available to complement the in-person course, to help teach the concepts of how to tackle the OSCEs through a series of video tutorials. We appreciate you had a long distance to travel and always recommend that delegates perhaps have an overnight stay the day before the course to help keep the mind fresh
“So I didn’t pass my first OSCE and felt I really needed some guidance on techniques for passing this exam. I feel Optuitions provided me with the techniques and confidence to help pass this exam. I revised using the techniques I learned at the (group mock) OSCE course and it worked as I passed! The quality of tutoring was brilliant! The location was far for me, as the course was in Birmingham and I’m from London, however there were hotels nearby so I just made a trip out if it. It was a small group which is great as you get that 1:1 feedback as well as learn from others. The course is a true representation of what the OSCE is like. Since the course (which included tutorial throughout), I’ve become more confident in practice as well, so overall the course has been of great benefit! Definitely a good investment in time and money. I don’t think there could have been any improvements! Dr Gupta was brilliant, thank you so much!” – AM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“After managing only 6/14 stations on my first attempt at the OSCEs, as well as struggling with the Volk manikin, I knew I had to seek help to master the somewhat artificial nature of OSCEs. I spoke to a colleague who had previously attended Optuitions with Dr. Gupta and quickly booked the next available course. The experience was excellent – at the end of the day the penny had dropped! I felt like I had an arsenal ready to tackle the next OSCE. Dr. Gupta was able to point out weaknesses and explained how to tailor yourself correctly in order to show how much knowledge you really had. Not only that, but he was kind enough to give me extra emphasis for the Volk station. The result? I passed the OSCE with 13/14 stations and I was much more relaxed during (and after!) the exam. My advice for people who struggled with or barely failed the OSCEs would be to not hesitate nor delay booking an OSCE preparation course with Optuitions. I have met pre-reg students on their 3rd and 4th attempt that hadn’t done any courses whatsoever, and I wouldn’t wish that sort of stress or anxiety on anyone. That in itself makes the fee for the course the best investment you’ll make in the year – easily!” – PT, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Edinburgh (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Dr Gupta was very insightful (in the group mock OSCE course) and has clearly had a lot of experience in the ‘OSCE world’. He taught us to think outside the box in some tricky stations. I got the sense that he was trying to prepare us to deal with difficult stations so that perhaps the real thing may be relatively easier to deal with and therefore I fully recommend his course.” – MS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Surrey (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I was seeking extra support in preparation for my pre-reg OSCE assessment . This was my first attempt at the OSCE and so I was feeling very anxious. The Optuitions course with Dr Gupta was one of the best courses that I attended. There was a small group size which makes it easier to learn and I was able to attempt OSCE stations in examined conditions. Furthermore, thorough feedback was given after the stations, which was amazing. Thankfully with the help of this mock OSCE, I passed first time and so it was definitely worth the money for me. Thanks again to Optuitions!” – SM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“This (group mock OSCE course) was an excellent course with lots of different types of stations to practice and very detailed feedback given. I decided to go on the course just to get more “real life scenario practice”, to become more familiar with the exam style and to learn the common mistakes. I felt I benefited greatly from the feedback given and I applied it during the exam, which had a major influence on me passing the OSCEs; I would certainly recommend this course to others!” – MA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Nottingham (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I found the (group mock OSCE) course very useful. I was more comfortable in the actual OSCE as Dr Gupta gave us a good example of how it would be. The tips were helpful so I knew what was expected of me in the OSCE. The course itself was intense but Dr Gupta didn’t make us feel judged, in the respect that we weren’t afraid to make mistakes as it was all a learning experience and not to test us. I would highly recommend it and it is worth the price. Also, how Optuitions accommodated us with food was very kind!” – US, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Coventry (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Excellent course!! I was on my final attempt at the OSCEs and the 1-to-2 taught course equipped me with all the necessary skills to be able to tackle with confidence the history & symptoms and communication stations especially. Brilliant!” – HSJ, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I would recommend this (group mock OSCE) course to anyone taking the OSCEs. We were taught in a manner that allowed us to retain information for the exam. Without taking the this course I wouldn’t have gained the confidence to take the exam and pass! Thank you Dr Gupta!” – IU, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Wolverhampton (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The (group mock OSCE) course was really helpful and I was able to apply the knowledge to all my stations. Thank you!” – RC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Redditch, Worcestershire (2019) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“The group mock OSCE prep course was really helpful, especially with the number of stations we went through. At the end of the course I felt a lot more confident and prepared! I definitely recommend this course to anyone sitting the OSCEs!” – SA, MOptom (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Really helpful (group mock) OSCE course to help you prepare for the real OSCEs in a way in which revision at home or store experience doesn’t help you. The tutoring was very detailed and you got lots of feedback. You get to perform lots of mock stations, very similar to what you are likely to experience on the day. I learned things on the course that specifically helped me in stations on the day of the real OSCEs, which I wouldn’t have otherwise known how to pass. It’s not just about your knowledge, it’s about how you specifically word that knowledge in the way the examiners like and seeing as Dr Gupta is an actual assessor you get the information right from the horse’s mouth. Thanks to Optuitions and the course, I passed first time and passed every single station. I would definitely recommend this course!” – HT, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Bristol (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I decided to book the group mock OSCE course after a recommendation from a colleague who did the course and passed the OSCEs first time. I had no idea how to approach revision when it came to the OSCEs but after the course my revision became a lot more structured and I managed to pass! It’s the only course I paid for and definitely the only one I needed!” – RA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Stockport (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I thought the group mock OSCE course was very useful and most definitely played a part in me passing the OSCE exam 1st time. The stations chosen by Dr Gupta were well thought out and deliberately chosen to cover all the areas where pre-reg students can often slip up. Dr Gupta was very honest and highly critical during the feedback sessions and never afraid to expose all your weak areas. As a result although I didn’t pass any of the mock stations on the course, I took the feedback on board and comfortably passed 12 out of 14 stations for the real exam. I highly recommend the course for all pre-reg students preparing for their OSCEs” – IM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Oswestry, Shropshire (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Intense group mock OSCE course but thorough advice on exam preparation which definitely helped in passing the real exam.” – FP, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Gateshead, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 4/5 Stars
“The stations used for the group mock OSCE course gave a taste of how the actual examination would be like and the detailed feedback for each individual station given by Dr Gupta was invaluable. I learnt so many hints and tips which I not only used for the exams but have implemented in my day to day work life. A great course and money well spent. I would definitely recommend any prospective pre-reg to attend this course!” – MSK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Northfield, Birmingham, (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I did this course as I needed to improve my exam technique for the OSCE. I had previously failed the OSCE 3 times so I needed help. I did both the 1-to-1 tuition and a group OSCE course. Both were extremely helpful. Dr Gupta went through my feedback from my previous attempts and helped me understand why I failed and what I should have done. The course was extremely beneficial and definitely worth the money; the course is much cheaper than a resit! Dr Gupta didn’t just give you stations, he actually went through them once you’d finished and we discussed the perfect answers. He was very helpful with data interpretation stations, he taught you how to actually describe what was happening and the importance of the description not just the diagnosis. We had practical stations, keratometry, focimetry, Volk, confrontation (the list goes on!). His stations were practically identical to the real OSCE. I’d recommend every pre-reg to do this course! It didn’t just help with my OSCE, it gave me confidence for every day practice too. When I got my breakdown of results I actually passed every station and scored full marks in a lot of them .. and it never would have happened, only for Optuitions! I’d been on a few other courses but this one was by far the best!” – SM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Worthing, West Sussex, (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Excellent course!! (group mock OSCE course) Being able to carry out mock stations with detailed individual feedback and advice was great. It was really useful and helped make sense not only for the sake of the exam but for real life practice too. The layout of the course and techniques taught were very good and it was good to be pushed to do the best/be the best rather than just passing.” – MV, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Rugby, Warwickshire, (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“It’s difficult to prepare for the OSCEs on your own so I thought a group course would help. I found the Optuitions course to be in a good location, and although maybe slightly cramped to be in the same room all day, overall the course was very good with very detailed and relevant feedback. This increased my confidence, and exposure to the more difficult stations including feedback on how to tackle similarly difficult stations meant that it was definitely worth attending to increase confidence with this style of examination and improve exam technique. I passed first time so it’s a very good time investment – a good price too!” – CK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Wolverhampton, (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I have attended Optuitions courses on three occasions and each time I learned material that really catered to my revision. The courses are extremely well run and organised. I firmly believe that had I not attended these courses, I would not have passed my OSCEs!” – HSD, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Bradford, (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Great training course for OSCEs! I attended the group course where there were four trainees on the day and each trainee does 7 stations plus Volk, so you get to see 29 stations on the day. Very useful as you get to observe how others tackle the stations as well as getting feedback. The format is as close to the true OSCEs as possible. The most important part of the course is that it gets you into the way of thinking of how to tackle each station and what the examiners are looking for. I would recommend it for anyone, especially if you’re like me and have only worked in a small independent practice that may not have been on the training courses that the multiples offer.” – GS, BOptom (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Bracknell, Berkshire (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“Optuitions gave me a lot of good exam tips during the group mock OSCE course, which helped my revision greatly. Dr Gupta also answered any questions I had and made me
more confident for my exam. The small group of people made it easy to discuss anything we didn’t understand, while we went through a wide range of OSCE stations. I would definitely recommend this OSCE course!” – BM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Loughton, Essex (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I attended the group mock OSCE course as I failed a previous OSCE sitting and I didn’t know where I was going wrong. The course helped me to understand various OSCE scenarios and how to approach them. Practicing the scenarios in front of others also helped to build up confidence when speaking. I definitely recommend it!” – NK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Tunbridge Wells, Kent (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“I sought help for my OSCEs as I felt I had no idea how to prepare for them as it is totally different from all the other assessments I had previously done during pre-reg. I found this course a very valuable experience in the preparation for my OSCEs. It was truly excellent in helping me to understand what to expect on the day of the exams and in what areas I needed to improve on. The course was conducted with a small group of other pre reg. students which was helpful as you could gain experience from watching others perform OSCEs and discussing it afterwards. The relaxed environment also helped to encourage you to be open and ask any questions. The course venue was very easy to get to as it’s right beside a train station. I definitely think this course is essential in preparing for OSCEs and would encourage anyone preparing for OSCEs to go. I would not have been so relaxed for the actual assessment if I had not undertaken this course first! It was definitely worth the time, travelling and money. It is a small price to pay for the peace of mind of what to expect and the experience of OSCEs which was very accurate to the real thing!” – RK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Keynsham, Somerset (2018) Course Rating: ★★★★★ 5/5 Stars
“In preparation for my OSCEs, I attended the 1-to-1 and group mock OSCE courses with Optuitions, based on my colleagues’ recommendation, and it was the best decision I made as they both proved to be of great value. I found it to be a real-life experience as the setup of the stations emulated the exam itself. I felt at ease with Dr. Gupta’s friendly yet assertive approach. He made himself available to touch base with any queries even after the course, which I found extremely helpful. With the help of Optuitions, I was able to tackle the OSCEs with confidence. As a result, the way I now approach patients and clinical situations has significantly improved. I would definitely recommend Optuitions to anyone looking to pass their Pre-registration assessments with flying colours!” – SY, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Swindon (2018)
“After passing Stage 2 of my pre reg., I was looking for tuition to help me pass the OSCEs first time. I found out about Optuitions from friends who had already been successful after seeing them, and by reading other testimonials on the website. Due to the popularity of the courses Optuitions runs, I was pleased when I managed to secure a 1-to-1 OSCE preparation course with them! Dr Gupta is very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained how to approach each type of OSCE station and he answered any questions I had. He also gave me some mock OSCE stations to attempt and gave me vital feedback to help me improve on any areas of weakness. After seeing Optuitions I was able to tailor my revision so that it gave me the best possible chance of being successful. I’m happy to say I passed the OSCEs first time and I even achieved 100% in several of the stations! The location of Optuitions is very convenient – just 1 minute away from the train station – and the course surpassed my expectations! I would definitely recommend Optuitions – seeing Dr Gupta is a very good investment of your time and money!” – DE, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Wolverhampton (2018)
“I attended the 1-to-2 OSCE taught course with a friend and it was a brilliant course! So thorough, and we went into more than enough detail that prepared me for the OSCE and for just normal practice too. It made me feel confident when I finished the OSCE and I passed!” – HC, MOptom (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Llanelli, Wales (2018)
“I required extra help after failing my OSCEs twice. The quality of the course was really in depth to help me to get full marks. The location was a little harder to reach but the group size was perfect. Having taken the course it fully prepared me for any obstacle in the OSCE, in particular the history taking as that was my downfall the previous times. I would definitely advise others to attend this course if they haven’t been on any other courses. It is worth the money and definitely the time. If I could improve anything it would be to just have more days and go through more stations!” – HN, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Leeds (2018)
“The group mock OSCE course was amazing! Going through so many varied stations really prepared me for the OSCEs. The set up of the stations were reminiscent of the actual format of the OSCEs which helped me during my actual exam to just focus on the task at hand. The only way the course could be improved is to potentially run for two days so that even more types of stations can be covered!.” – AO, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Kings Heath (Birmingham) (2018)
“I went on the group OSCE course. The mock stations covered all subject areas and Dr Gupta went through how to best approach each station type. The course was great value for money and it taught me a lot about the OSCE – I passed on the first attempt so I’d highly recommend this course.” – SA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Kidderminster (2018)
“Having received a lot of emails to attend OSCE courses from various companies, I decided to attend the Optuitions 1-to-2 OSCE course initially as I had heard great reviews from friends who had been. The course was excellent, we had plenty of time to cover in detail all aspects of the OSCEs, from what to expect to mock OSCE stations. This course was not just about doing the stations but focused on how to tackle them in such a short amount of time and what the examiners are looking for, in addition to forming a strategy on how to approach stations. I went home with confidence that I knew where to start with revision and preparation for the OSCE. I then decided to also attend the group mock OSCE course to practice what I had learned previously. I am really glad I did this as we received detailed feedback for each individual station, and we went over lots of stations in detail. I have sat my OSCE now and passed first time with very high marks! Without the help of Optuitions I wouldn’t have been able to do this, so I would like to thank you for all the support and I would definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting to pass with flying colours!!” – SP, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Northamptonshire (2017)
“The Optuitions OSCE course was great overall. I found it very useful having a small group where we first performed OSCE stations and then discussed in detail afterwards as well as have my own individual feedback. Also having the opportunity to observe other students like myself really helped me learn where we commonly go wrong and more importantly how to improve myself. We covered a wide variety of topics which really highlighted the areas I needed more work on. Overall a fantastic and very productive day with so many tips and advice! Dr Gupta is excellent and made us all feel very comfortable regarding asking any questions we had throughout the day. I now recommend this course to all my friends!” – TI, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Midlands (2017)
“As it had been a while since attending an OSCE course with the company I work for, the OSCE felt daunting, and as it was my first time sitting the OSCE, I wasn’t sure what to expect. After hearing previous success stories from friends, with the help of Optuitions, I decided to get in contact regarding the group mock OSCE course. The quality of tutoring is great by Optuitions, with equipment just as you would find in the OSCE, and there is feedback on every station as to how you can improve. After the tutorial I was able to identify my weaknesses and concentrate my revision in these areas for the OSCE, helping me to become confident in all areas of the competency framework. I felt much more confident than my peers when going in to the exam, knowing I had previous experience at the course of what it would be like. I would definitely spend money on Optuitions as it was the only OSCE course I went to and felt it was worth every penny as it helped me to pass the OSCE first time!” – PK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Northamptonshire (2017)
“Working in a busy multiple practice, finding 1-to-1 time with supervisors isn’t always possible. Moreover, if they’ve qualified many years ago, understanding what is required of a pre-reg. can be difficult. That’s where Optuitions comes in. I first found them online in August 2016 and booked a bespoke course as I was struggling with basic testing techniques. Dr Gupta was professional, patient and very knowledgeable. He not only helped me improve my technique but actually helped me to understand what I was doing. When the OSCEs came around I was extremely nervous. I had previously attended a different mock OSCE course with another provider, which felt like musical chairs with limited feedback. Having used Optuitions before, I therefore decided to book onto a group course. The course involved four students and was lead by Dr Gupta who played patient and examiner interchangeably. It was fantastic! We covered around 28 different stations with detailed feedback. Each station was broken down into the theory and clinical elements as well as understanding approach, technique and common pitfalls. It’s a comfortable environment and is located right next to a train station. Not only did I pass but did so with flying colours! The 250 mile round trip was well worth it! A course with Optuitions will not only walk you through the pre reg. but help you develop into a well-rounded professional.” – UA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Middleton, Greater Manchester (2017)
“After failing my pre-reg OSCEs twice I realised I needed help with my technique. I found Optuitions online after a simple Google search and I wish I had done this sooner and saved myself a lot of hassle! After getting through my pre-reg year with no real bumps or falls I didn’t anticipate that I would struggle so much with OSCEs. Dr Gupta was very helpful. The day I went I was in a group of 4, which I thought was a good number as you get to watch how other people react in stations. It’s done under exam conditions so you get a real feel for the stations. The first time I did my OSCEs I passed 7 stations and the next time I passed 8 stations. When I did them the third time (after the course with Optuitions) I passed all 14 stations (and the stations that day were definitely harder than the first two times!) If you are considering doing this course I couldn’t recommend it highly enough – location was easy to find and the course was well worth the money – I only wish I had done it sooner!” – SN, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Belfast, Northern Ireland (2017)
“I attended the Optuitions group mock OSCE course after reading the positive testimonials. As it was my first sitting I wanted to experience exactly what the OSCEs would be like. We covered a wide range of stations including Volk, Focimetry and Keratometry, and Dr Gupta gave detailed feedback about where I needed to improve and how to approach each station. This course helped build up my confidence massively and we were able to ask questions freely. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone seeking extra help, as I passed first time!” – KC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Bristol (2017)
“After searching for pre-reg tuition online, I attended the Stage 2 Patient Records tuition and group mock OSCE courses provided by Optuitions. It was clear from the very beginning how professional and experienced Dr Gupta is. I felt extremely comfortable asking questions and genuinely felt at the end of each session that I had instantly gained more understanding regarding the assessments and examinations. I can honestly say I would not have passed if it was not for the guidance, patience and tutoring provided by Dr Gupta. I would highly recommend Optuitions” – TA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Lincolnshire (2016/2017)
“I attended the 1-to-2 mock OSCE course at Optuitions with a friend. The reason for booking this session was because I needed extra support and Dr Gupta is experienced within this field. I was recommended by a friend who told me Dr Gupta gave good advice in preparation for assessments. He is a genuine tutor who wants to help you pass and also help your understanding. I was able to ask questions without hesitation. The learning environment was in an optometric room, with all facilities available including slit lamp and the Volk Manikin, which was great! The tutorial provided me with tips on how to approach the stations and how to think when answering the stations. I was able to pass my OSCE first time, which I am so happy and relieved about! I would advise that if you are considering the service then go for it! Yes it may be slightly costly (you might get reimbursed by your company you work with), but it is worth it if you need help. Don’t struggle in silence and book yourself in – in the long run it will be worth it. Thank you Dr Gupta for providing this tuition service!” – SR, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2016/2017)
“I mainly wanted to seek advice for the OSCEs because I didn’t really understand what to revise and what work to cover as there had been a large time gap since my Stage 2 assessment. Also I wanted to identify my strengths and weaknesses and know where I stand and what I needed to do to pass the OSCEs. The only knowledge of the OSCE I had was from past experience of other colleagues who had taken it. I was recommended to join Optuitions by a friend but I had also met Dr Gupta at a course held by the company I work for and I found his teaching abilities to be excellent. The experience of the Optuitions course was excellent as it was very informative and gives you clear guidance on which direction and approach to take to pass the OSCE. The group course was great as there was a small group which gave us more opportunity to practice different scenarios. After the course it was clear that I needed to improve my practical skills and theory knowledge but I did not feel disheartened in any way as if I did not attend the course I would have not realised this gap in my abilities. I would definitely recommend any of my friends / colleagues to attend this course whether it’s your first attempt or if you have taken the OSCE before. I personally feel I would have not passed without attending this course as the aims were fulfilled in a professional and supportive manner.” – GG, FBDO, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Ripley (2016)
“I failed the OSCEs at my first attempt which made me seek extra support. While searching on the internet I came across Optuitions and read some feedback from students which made me book the class. I booked a 1-to-2 course (I wanted a 1-to-1 but there was no availability) but despite that it was very good and very helpful. The learning environment was very relaxing and informative. Generally I hesitate to ask any questions but this was different as I was able to ask whatever I wanted to without any hesitation. Attending the course I was able to look at the OSCE stations differently and realised what mistakes I made in my first attempt and how to improve. I would advise student who are struggling or who are not so confident on dealing with the stations to book this course. I think this was definitely worth it, and worth travelling from London for, as I passed the OSCEs at the next attempt!” – GKS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2016)
“I attended the group OSCE course and found that one of the most valuable aspects was being shown how to extract key points from the instructions and forming a strategy for execution of the stations. We had timed practice for each station and detailed individual feedback, which simulated the OSCEs in a way that gave a real impression of the actual OSCE exam. Dr Gupta’s approachability made it easy to ask questions and in turn the course overall helped me to pass the OSCEs at the first attempt.” – FS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Shropshire (2016)
“I was desperate for help having failed my first 3 attempts at the OSCEs due to poor communication skills. I looked up online and I found out Optuitions was offering different courses. I attended the one-to-one to course where Dr Gupta gave me a detailed template to approach the different stations. I found it very useful and also my supervisor quickly noticed the difference. I came back for a group course and found this also to be interesting. You have the chance to see from outside other people perform OSCE stations and this lets you understand how examiners judge your performance. I found both courses really helpful and I highly recommend to anyone who is sitting the OSCEs to go to Optuitions!” – NM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Edinburgh (2016)
“I would 100% recommend the Optuitions OSCE course to anyone who is taking their OSCE for the first time or re-taking. Dr Gupta makes you feel really comfortable and allows you to ask any question about the OSCE or about any content throughout the day, no matter how silly the question can be. Dr Gupta allows you to do so many mock stations as if you were taking the exam that day, which was great as he provides really useful feedback after. Also I was able to practice the two-position Keratometer, which is something I have not used since University! I left the course feeling so much more confident and prepared and without this course I may not have passed my exam in July!” – KB, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Coventry (2016)
“After struggling with the OSCEs for the second time, my supervisor recommended that I attend a course run by Optuitions. Dr Gupta who runs the course is really friendly and helpful. After reviewing our performance on mock stations, he pointed out our weaknesses and helped us to improve it. I had two tuition sessions with him, a 1-on-2 session and a group session (group of 5). I gained different experiences and knowledge from the different sessions. The feedback from Dr Gupta and the experiences gained from the two courses have helped me to be more confident, precise, logical and professional when tackling the actual OSCEs stations in my third attempt. The outcome was I finally passed my exam! I would say the courses were definitely worth every penny and would recommend it to my friends and colleagues.” – CC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Swindon (2016)
“After a recommendation from a friend, I decided to book on the Optuitions OSCE course. As it was the first time I was going sit the OSCEs in July, I was nervous and didn’t really have any prior experience of the OSCEs aside what I’d heard from other colleagues. Dr Gupta’s course was structured well and covered a lot of OSCE stations, going through each one bit by bit to see where improvements could be made. I particularly appreciated the fact that there were only 5 of us there, which made the course feel more constructive and aimed towards helping you as an individual. I felt the feedback from each OSCE station was informative and really helped during the actual OSCEs. It was useful to practice Volk on the dummy eye as I hadn’t really had chance to do this before & useful tips were given by Dr Gupta on how to gain full marks in this station. I don’t regret attending the course at all and I believe, without it, I may not have passed the OSCEs. I would definitely recommend the course to any others looking to attend! Thank you so much for helping me pass first time!” – TC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Leicester (2016)
“I attended a group mock OSCE course before my first attempt at the OSCE whilst working as a pre-registration optometrist in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. I spent some time researching the training opportunities available in preparation for the exam and this particular day with Optuitions seemed to offer good value in terms of getting the maximum benefits for a relatively small financial outlay. The mock OSCE day gave me a real feel for the set-up that I could expect from the final exams and provided a great insight into the particular aspects the examiners were looking to assess. I am very happy to say I passed the OSCEs first time and I believe that the experiences I gained on this course played a fundamental part in helping me to achieve this. I attended the exams feeling that although I couldn’t be sure how I would perform on the day at least I now knew what to expect from the station structure and this helped in calming those inevitable exam nerves. I would highly recommend the Optuitions courses to anyone seeking a personal and insightful training experience.” – HC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Gloucestershire (2016)
“I attended the Optuitions group mock OSCE course. The stations were branched out into a variety of core competencies, which ensured nearly every aspect of clinical and communication skills in the scheme were tested and covered. Because we were placed in small groups, it was a comfortable and welcoming environment to ask questions and go over challenging competencies. I felt the availability of equipment to practise core skills and the excellent mentoring from Dr Gupta, really helped to perfect challenging and tongue-tied scenarios.” – NB, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Liverpool (2016)
“I decided to book the OSCE Optuitions course after hearing positive feedback from friends. I was nervous and did not know what to really expect from the OSCE examination. Attending the course with Dr Gupta was one of the most valuable and beneficial things any Pre Reg can do. It is by far the best Pre Reg course available. I passed my OSCEs first time and I feel Optuitions massively helped me and guided me in a way no other courses could. I do strongly believe if I did not attend this course I would not have passed my OSCE examination. The way Dr Gupta explains how to tackle the OSCE examination is absolutely fantastic. He explained what examiners are looking for and how to deal with the stations. My whole mind set and way of thinking for the OSCEs had significantly improved. Doing practice scenarios and having Dr Gupta observe and mark me was of great benefit because I was able to receive very valuable individual feedback. Many different topics are covered in depth and during the session I felt comfortable to ask as many questions. The location for the course is very convenient as it easily accessible by car or public transport. I cannot stress enough how useful and important this course is! Honestly would not have passed the OSCEs first time without the help from Optuitions. The way Optuitions prepares you for the exam is phenomenal and this is clearly evident as myself and a large number of others have successfully passed the exams from having received help from Dr Gupta.” – MK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Manchester (2016)
“Every Optometry Graduate knows how hard the Pre-Registration Year can be. Despite this, I felt I was moving quite smoothly towards my qualifying exam, and it was an unpleasant surprise to discover that I had failed my first attempt at the OSCEs. One problem was in my communication skills, which is understandable, as this was not a priority in the degree course, and I also failed on some clinical examination techniques. In my search for help and advice, I read on Facebook, a good review of Optuitions, and decided to have a one-to-one course, so as to give myself a better chance of passing on my second attempt. This was a wise move on my part, and I cannot praise highly enough, the wisdom and teaching skills of Dr Gupta. He highlighted my shortcomings in patient communication, and helped me to find my way of how to explain medical conditions, and the management of them, in a precise and comprehensible way. It helped me to pass the OSCES, and I use it in my everyday work, and there has been a significant improvement in my communication with patients. One of the key features of the Optuitions course is the Volk Training Station, which is on every exam, and thanks to this, I achieved a good score on the day. It was most certainly a good investment, both in terms of time and money, and it was a pleasure to be on the course, because it provides the knowledge and confidence required to pass the OSCEs. This I succeeded in doing on my second attempt. Thank you so much, Dr Gupta!” – AH, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, East Midlands (2016)
“Having had a relatively successful and seemingly unhindered pre-registration year at an independent opticians in Runcorn, it came as quite a shock to me and my work colleagues when I failed to pass the July 2015 OSCE assessment. I brushed myself off and attempted again in September doing even worse due to what we think must have been a decrease in confidence and perceived ability. Fortunately my supervisor was very supportive and offered to fund private tuition with Dr Gupta at Optuitions. Best decision ever! We had previously stumbled upon Optuitions via Facebook when looking for courses knowing these are in limited number to students practicing at independents. The course was nothing short of fantastic. Dr Gupta identified the issues I had been having with communication and developed a bespoke action plan tailored over three sessions to improve my exam technique and conquer my anxieties. As a result the January OSCEs went smoothly and not only did I pass, I passed every single station. I can’t thank Dr Gupta enough for helping me achieve this. The quality of his tutoring is exceptional and demonstrates a vast amount of knowledge, experience and passion for the optical profession. Not only did his tutoring get me through the OSCEs, it’s made me an improved, more confident and now fully qualified practicing optometrist!!” – JF, MOptom (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Runcorn (2016)
“Pre-registration is a daunting process hence I wanted to get some extra help to ensure my patient records were up to scratch for Stage 2 and that I understood what a good record looked like. Optuitions was recommended to me by one of my fellow colleagues. The quality of tutoring was excellent as all competencies and subject matter was covered efficiently. The location is easy to get to and find. After attending both the Stage 2 and the OSCEs tutorials it gave me a better perspective on areas I needed to focus on. I left each session feeling more confident. It is a must for pre-registration, as before coming on these courses I was unsure of Assessor expectations of me. It was definitely a good investment for time and money. I am very grateful that I found Optuitions!” – JKG, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2015)
“I did my pre reg at an independent practice which did not offer any courses. Although my supervisor was really good, I felt that I just needed to cover all bases and with Dr Gupta already being a College Assessor, he knew all the possibilities of things that we could potentially be asked. The extra help was really valuable. The quality of tutoring was excellent and we went through absolutely everything – in the OSCE course we even got the dummy eye for Volk! Dr Gupta spent more than enough time with us on the day and this really helped. The learning environment was brilliant, quiet with no disturbances and a proper practice set-up. The service again was excellent and the location is very good as there is off road parking if you are coming by car and there is a train station very close by if you are coming via public transport. I managed to complete my pre reg and pass the relevant assessments and exams first time round! The courses are definitely worth it – it’s an investment!” – VK, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Nuneaton, Warwickshire (2015)
“Thank you for the OSCE course! It was very helpful! I felt the practice OSCEs definitely helped with the confidence and Dr Gupta was very kind to answer all our questions. I definitely felt more confident to sit the OSCEs and my colleagues felt that I was more confident too after attending your course. And the information you gave was very helpful. Volk was a definite help for me and I know I would have failed this station if I had not attended the Optuitions course. I have passed the OSCEs so thank you very much for that!!” – DG, BOptom (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Swindon (2015)
“I passed my OSCEs first time and would like to say a big thank you to Optuitions! The course put me on the best platform possible as it really gave me the best insight into how the OSCE works, the type of stations there are, and most of all how to answer the questions in a way examiners are looking for. The guidelines on explaining conditions was what I kept at the forefront of my mind in every station I entered. This gave me confidence in my skills and communication. Thank you very much, I will be sure to recommend your course!” – KD, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Tamworth, Staffordshire (2015)
“I decided to use Optuitions due to the overwhelming amount of work required to prepare for each assessment throughout the pre-reg year. Optuitions provides 1-to-1 tuition and therefore could tailor each course to areas that I struggled with. Optuitions helped me organise my revision and revise the relevant topics that I could be asked about during my assessments. This boosted my confidence and helped me pass each assessment first time including the OSCES. I believe the support given by Optuitions was a great investment as I felt much more focussed and calm throughout my assessments and have not had to pay for any re-sit assessments. I would recommend Optuitions to every student throughout the pre-reg year, and I have already done so. The prices of each revision course are very reasonable and very much worth the money. Thank you for all your help!” – JP, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Hull (2014-2015)
“I wanted to get as much practice as possible with mock OSCEs towards the end of my pre-reg. From the reviews of the tutorials, Optuitions was a great opportunity to discuss OSCE stations with a small group of Pre-registration Optometrists and an experienced Optometrist such as Dr Gupta. The actual course was very useful and helped me get into the mindset of how I should be thinking in the OSCEs. I was satisfied with the content of the course, felt it was very thorough and covered a wide range of topics. I would certainly recommend attending this course to get as much practise as possible with different scenarios with great feedback from Dr Gupta and other Pre-registration Optometrists.” – ST, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2015)
“I was really struggling through my pre-reg to keep up with the workload on top of my long working hours. Working in a busy store, my supervisors found it difficult to support me and guide me and I was pretty much left to my own devices from the start. I had managed to get through Stage 1 in four visits but Stage 2 was a reality check with heavy scrutiny indicating how underprepared and patchy my records and knowledge really was; I failed all three sections. I knew I would require someone to sit with me and go through exactly what was needed to not only pass but to help me become a more confident and competent Optometrist. Going to the Optuitions courses was the best decision I’ve made. Otherwise I’m pretty confident I would still be re-sitting Stage 2 instead of being a qualified Optometrist! Dr Gupta was excellent throughout – very knowledgeable and professional – covering each topic in depth and answering all questions and queries. Stage 2 as a 1-to-1 course was the perfect solution as each pre-reg experience is different – in two full days I was able to cover more knowledge than my supervisors were able to provide in 8 months! Top of the range modern equipment was available to use so I was able to also enhance my practical skills also. The location was easily accessible, with parking available conveniently close. I’m a much more confident and professional Optometrist since the Optuitions courses. I feel I can deal with any situation in practice. Pre-reg can be a stressful year, but with the right guidance that Optuitions provides, you will be well prepared for any scenario that may come your way! I would willingly have paid more for anything that helped me become a better practitioner and pass my pre-reg, but Optuitions courses were excellent value for money. Looking online for similar courses I could barely find any cheaper alternative. All in all, an excellent experience and a pleasure to be guided by someone who knows exactly what is required to meet the standards. Very thorough and tailor-made to suit your needs.” – AA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2015)
“I heard about Optuitions through a friend. I had been looking for a course to put me in a good position throughout pre reg as not many are publicised. Dr Gupta being a College Assessor helped make up my mind as being the one to go for plus the various options that were available for Stage 2 and the OSCEs made it much easier to fit my needs. The material itself is top quality, personal and will get any student 100% if followed. I would advise any pre reg optometrist who is looking for help on any level to get in touch with Optuitions!” – AC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Manchester (2015)
“It’s always good to get as much practice as possible for your OSCEs. A lot of companies provide mock OSCEs with only 10 stations so the more you can practice from different courses the better. Other courses were either full or a lot more expensive so when I saw the advert for Optuitions on the Facebook page I got in touch. In the Optuitions OSCE course you get to do A LOT of stations; I personally got to experience 32 stations and a lot of similar stations came up in my actual OSCEs. The feedback is very thorough – we started from the beginning of the day and worked till the end of the day and we were even receiving feedback during our lunch. I would say the smaller group sizes (we had 4 people in ours) seemed perfect. The course is worth every penny as I passed my OSCEs!!” – AA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Manchester (2015)
“I initially decided to seek the services of Optuitions in order to help me fully prepare for the final OSCE examination. Dr Gupta’s tutorial service had been highly recommended to me by fellow Optometrists and former pre-registration students who had been highly impressed with his level of knowledge and attention to detail. The Optuitions course is based in a professional office environment and is well situated in a very convenient location which is easily accessible by both car and railway services. The tutorial was extremely well thought out and structured. Dr Gupta’s welcoming, calm and flexible approach to the day enabled me to direct and alter the structure of the day to tailor for my specific needs. The training was of an excellent standard and gave me the confidence to approach the final examination with a calm and methodical approach. I passed the OSCEs at the first attempt! Overall, the course is a wise and fantastic investment of both time and money. I would thoroughly recommend and encourage all pre-registration students to take on Dr Gupta’s services.” – AA, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2015)
“Having taken a gap year I needed to brush up on the core theoretical and practical aspects again to give me a strong platform for the pre-registration year. I was out of sync with day to day optometry and I was a little hesitant going in to my pre-reg. Dr Gupta has been highly recommended by others for his esteemed knowledge and high level of experience in the optometric field as a College Assessor and hospital optometrist. The tutorials provided by Optuitions helped me bridge that gap with a lot of ease and it paid dividends as I passed all my exams first time. Dr Gupta is very friendly and helpful, he will make sure by the end of the course you achieve all the objectives set out and ultimately make you a confident practitioner and you’ll pass your exams with ease. Fantastic quality learning, the best I’ve come across. Dr Gupta is very well experienced and can explain concepts tailored to your learning approach so for me it’s a 10 out of 10! The location is very central with many transport links close by. I would recommend Optuitions to every pre-reg optometrist and optometrist out there – it’s definitely been worth every penny and the courses will most definitely help you in passing your exams and any future developmental needs.” – FC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Leeds (2014-2015)
“I would recommend this course to anybody who is about to sit their OSCEs! I did my Pre-Reg in Liverpool Hospital and therefore did not attend any company-based training courses and was really worried about how OSCEs even worked! This course gave me the confidence to approach different stations in the correct way and was good fun to compare my knowledge and experiences with other pre-regs who attended on the day. We went through numerous stations (some of which were very similar to my real OSCEs) and talked through the answers on a one-to-one basis which is extremely helpful. The cost of this course is much less than a re-take – do not underestimate how important the correct preparation is. Thank you very much for helping me to pass my OSCEs and become a fully qualified Optometrist!!” – MH, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Liverpool (2015)
“I first sought the services of Optuitions in order to prepare for sitting the OSCE exams. Having started pre-reg later than my peers I missed the deadlines offered by the larger OSCE preparation courses and having heard good things about the training offered by Optuitions I decided to attend a OSCE preparation course. The course was well situated in professional office facilities and easily accessible by road with local rail services also nearby. Training was conducted in a small group with 1:7 tuition allowing excellent opportunities for questions. The training consisted of several OSCE type stations carried out in the recommended times followed by debrief and model style answers. The group size allowed each student first hand exposure to several stations and observation of other candidates carrying out stations, allowing for effective peer review and allowing candidates to see other professionals’ approaches to solving stations. I felt that the training offered was of excellent standard and was definitely influential in my successful first attempt of the OSCEs. My advice to people considering undertaking the OSCE preparation courses is don’t hesitate to book one (preferably as a small group – this allows you to observe one another’s good decisions as well as mistakes and helps you to approach the exams with a mind on the highest personal performance). For the professional training that is given I can easily say it was exceedingly good value for money and I for one would have paid more for it had the price been higher. In summary an excellent, professional, well developed and presented course. Many thanks!” – MM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Hampshire (2015)
“I didn’t want to fail the Stage 2 assessment as I knew it would extend my pre-reg period longer than necessary and I knew that it would be too difficult to pass on my own. Therefore I looked for guidance outside work and I contacted Optuitions because someone I knew who had previously failed Stage 2 a few times took this course and passed at the next attempt. My experience of these tuitions was truly worth it! The location was perfect near a station so it was not difficult for me to get there. The office was well laid out with nice facilities. Equipment was all there in case I forgot something. Best of all the tutor was really good. I never felt stupid asking the stupidest questions! I felt I received all the help necessary and the structure of the tuition was well laid out giving me the extra time to clear any doubts and it was all accurate to the assessment guidelines. Since the tutorials I gained confidence in what I knew and I passed and OSCEs first time too! This has definitely been a big achievement for me and I am now a qualified Optometrist! I would advise everyone not to waste time and extra money on retakes as these assessments go into a lot more depth with a different exam technique to university. So just take up the Optuitions courses and pass first time! I honestly cannot think of anything I would like to improve on the experience I’ve had with Optuitions so thank you very much! Your support meant a lot in getting me through my pre-reg and for me I have to say the best part of this experience was the personal touch I had from the service in the sense that I contacted Dr Gupta when I failed part of my Stage 2 assessment and he gave me extra advice; and a few days before my OSCEs I had last minute questions and he called me to explain the answers out of office/tutorial hours. I truly appreciated that he was in touch whenever I needed the help so thank you so much!!” – SR, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2015)
“Having failed in my first sitting of the OSCEs I was disappointed, especially after having been confident in my preparations and revision. I was unsure of where I may have gone wrong, so decided to attend the OSCE course by Optuitions not knowing what to expect. And the course certainly exceeded my expectations. I found Dr Gupta very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and accommodating. His advice and feedback was second to none. And this not only helped me to simply pass, but pass all the stations in my next sitting of the OSCEs. As well as applying his advice for the exam, I have now found myself doing so in my daily routine. It was a wise investment and I would definitely recommend this course for anyone who wants to prepare for their pre-reg assessments.” – AJ, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2015)
“I had been struggling through my pre-registration year to prepare for my examinations. Fortunately, I stumbled across Dr. Gupta’s tuition services, which I wish I had known were available earlier! He guided me through my Stage 2 assessments giving me confidence not only to pass and qualify, but confidence in myself. Dr. Gupta provides a completely stress-free and professional environment, with the bonus of it being one-to-one. He is both approachable and engaging, constantly encouraging you to ask questions, which is something I was previously hesitant to do. He makes you feel at ease and gives you opportunities to cover particular topics theoretically and practically. Since taking on Dr. Gupta’s help, I am now a newly qualified Optometrist, and certainly have him to thank for getting me through the end of it. I would highly recommend taking on Dr. Gupta’s services believing it to be almost essential to any pre-registration trainee!” – WM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Birmingham (2014/15)
“During my pre-registration training I was struggling to comprehend the examination techniques and particularly the style of questioning used in assessments. I knew that I required extra support and Dr Gupta was recommended to me by a good friend. I had a full 2-day course for Stage 2 which was broken down into sections. I initially thought it would be too lengthy but it was just right, with a good mix of practical as well as theoretical training. It is always said that the pre-reg training is supposed to be learning for life; in simple terms, that’s exactly how I’d describe the courses offered Optuitions, because I was easily able to digest and retain what I learned. The knowledge I gained was the foundation to my confidence and hence, I was able to communicate effectively in the OSCE exam and qualified by passing at the first attempt! I am very grateful to Dr Gupta! To top things off, there are good transport links to the office, which is modern and comfortable.” – JR, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2014/15)
“I took on this course whilst doing my pre-registration training because I wanted to put 100% effort into preparing in every way that I could before my examinations. I knew of Dr Gupta’s experience and so I know he would be able to tell me exactly what is required from the OSCE stations. I have to say working with Dr Gupta was both extremely beneficial and fun at the same time! He went through everything in detail and gave a structured layout and a basis on how to tackle the stations and in what order. The location was perfect because it is literally opposite the train station which made it much easier. I would definitely recommend this course for anyone that wants to give 100% – regardless of whether you attend other OSCE courses as part of the pre-reg, the Optuitions course is definitely worth the time and the money!” – SS, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Bradford (2014/15)
“The best help from the OSCE course was how to deal with the communication side of things. The practical things are what you do on a daily basis so shouldn’t be too difficult but it’s easy to underestimate communication, which is the more tricky part. I would never have thought about explaining things in the way Dr Gupta taught me, which puts even the scariest and sight-threatening problems in a more reassuring/less frightening way to patients. This was the biggest help I got. The venue itself was easy to find, which was convenient especially when you’re coming from over the water! All in all money well spent and set me up very well to prepare for my finals!” – NM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Northern Ireland (2014)
“As I was coming to the end of pre-reg with the final exam being the OSCEs I felt nervous and didn’t know what to expect. I found out through a friend about the OSCE course ran by Optuitions and thought that it would better prepare me for the OSCEs as I heard of the excellent support that Dr Gupta provides. I had the opportunity to carry out mock stations where detailed feedback was given instantly which was different to other courses. This approach was extremely valuable as it made me understand how I needed to prepare for the OSCEs and allowed me to see how they would be set out. Dr Gupta allowed me to study and learn at a pace which was right for me. It was the most valuable preparation that I did for the OSCEs and I cannot thank Dr Gupta enough – definitely value for money as it could not have left me in a better position for the real thing!” – MD, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Midlands (2014)
“The pre-registration year can be a demanding year for most people. I found that I needed guidance on what I needed to improve on and I came to know about Dr Gupta’s invaluable feedback approaches through friends. His experience and expertise helped me greatly when I attended the OSCE preparation course. Although I had attended a course organised through my employer, one-to-one feedback was not given. With Dr Gupta he explained what was expected of us and how to navigate the different types of stations efficiently. The way in which he relayed information in a relaxing manner suited my learning style and gave me direction and focus. His course was thorough and I left feeling well prepared for any station! I highly recommend Dr Gupta to anyone who is looking for a professional to guide them through their pre-reg year.” – UN, BSc (Hons) (Optical Management), BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Midlands (2014)
“Having not experienced any exam like the final OSCE examination, since scaled down versions at university, I was apprehensive as to what to expect. I was aware of the OSCE preparation course run by Optuitions and thought that the one-to-one preparation would be ideal. The methodological style with which Navneet approaches the course helped me to get my head around what each type of station was looking for, and how to attack different stations in different ways. The mock stations and, more importantly, the instantaneous detailed feedback was probably the most valuable aspect of the course, as it gave me a reference point of my strengths and weaknesses. I feel that this course (along with the many late nights in the library!!) was key in helping me pass my OSCE examination at the first attempt, and therefore, was an excellent investment in my time and money.” – DB, BSc (Hons) MCOptom (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Coventry / West Midlands (2014)
“Having passed Stage 2, we decided it would be best to be pro-active for preparing for the OSCEs as the thought of re-sitting and paying a substantial fee without any practice beforehand was unsettling. Fortunately Dr Gupta was recommended highly by a friend. The fact that Dr Gupta has experience in this exam format made us feel confident that we would have successful training. The location was ideal and there was free parking on site. Dr Gupta was very professional as well as providing a comfortable working environment. We both felt confident going into the OSCEs and tackling the scenarios presented. Having taken part in this course we would without a doubt recommend Dr Gupta’s services to any optometry students seeking a structured and organized learning approach with a clear target in mind. We are very grateful for Dr Gupta’s help!” – PB and RB, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrists, Manchester & West Midlands (2014)
“After having been unsuccessful at my first attempt at the OSCEs I decided to seek help and a friend of mine recommended Dr Gupta for his tutorials. Dr Gupta guided me on the topics I should cover to better prepare me for the OSCEs and how I should go about learning the theoretical knowledge. He also helped me with all the questions I had of my own. He was very helpful, informative and essentially filled the gaps in my knowledge. I felt much more prepared to work as an optometrist than I did prior to meeting with Dr Gupta. I would advise pre-registration optometrists to make sure they know their stuff before sitting the OSCEs, and Dr Gupta’s help was invaluable in helping me achieve this!” – AT, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Midlands (2014)
“I was struggling half-way through my pre-reg year and I was very fortunate to meet Dr Gupta and have some tutorials. The tutorials were very helpful in preparation for the exams. Dr Gupta is very knowledgeable as he is able to simplify and explain the subject in different ways. It was a well worth investment as I was able to go through the rest of my pre-reg more confidently and qualified knowing I have adequate knowledge as a newly qualified optometrist. I will not stop here, I will definitely take more tutorials as optometry is a wide subject and it is always nice to broaden my knowledge. I would like to thank Dr Gupta for his valuable tutorials!” – MM, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Midlands (2013)
“I felt I needed further understanding and practice with regards to certain competencies for the Scheme for Registration, mainly binocular vision and ocular conditions. I am so glad I chose these tutorials with Dr Gupta, as the experience was very beneficial and helped me get through the OSCE exams. It’s great that Dr Gupta is very flexible to travel in different locations. I would definitely advise pre-registration students to take up these tutorials as it is a great learning experience and to use the knowledge gained as a qualified optometrist. Thank You Dr Gupta, you are wonderful!” – AP, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, London (2013)
“Working in an independent practice it is hard to find relevant training courses and proper preparation for the OSCE’s is essential. There is nothing like practicing potential scenarios to build your confidence. The training we did with Dr Gupta was not only relevant, more importantly the style of his delivery was exactly the right balance between professional and personal. I can say from experience that Dr Gupta has lots of hints and tips about how to get through the OSCE exams and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him for pre-registration training.” – SW, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, West Midlands (2013)
“My pre-reg year was very tough for me. I found myself struggling to get through the assessments. I was about to give up when I decided to get external help. That’s when I contacted Dr. Gupta who not only made me a more confident optometrist but offered me one-to-one support to help me through my exams. His tutorials were perfectly designed to suit my learning style and offered help with practicals as well. I was never bored during his tutorials either, which is always a plus point! I would recommend his tutorial services to anyone who thinks they are struggling or just need some extra help/confidence through pre-reg. It’s definitely worth investing that little time and money to help you get through it.” – SC, BSc (Hons) (Optometry), Pre-registration Optometrist, Kidderminster / Birmingham (2013)
